The crime of sexual assault is the act of unwanted touching or application of force to another person without their consent, which is of a sexual nature.

This broad criminal definition of a sexual assault encompasses both extremely minor acts (such as perhaps a tap on a person’s buttocks), to full blown intercourse. Most of these cases involve a “he said, she said” narrative and issues of credibility and reliability will have to be raised.
